Your first step to recovery

How many treatments will ACC cover?

Each condition is allocated a certain number of treatments by ACC, if further treatment is required your physiotherapist can apply for further treatments from ACC.

Healing rates vary between people and all our patients are working towards different goals, whether that be to return to high level sport, social sport, work or time with the family. We are more than happy to assist you with applying for further treatments through ACC if we have not been able to achieve your goals in the allocated time frame. This does take time as we document the sessions we have had, why we may not have achieved your goals and our plan for your upcoming treatment sessions.

How many visits will I need?

Following your initial assessment your physiotherapist can discuss the anticipated number of treatments that may be required for your particular condition. This will need to be reassessed regularly and treatment numbers depend on multiple factors relating to the individual.

What do I need to bring?

Be prepared to provide your previous medical or surgical history. If you have them and if they are relevant bring scan/MRI reports, and list of medication. You may wish to bring shorts and t-shirt.

If you have an ACC claim it is important to make sure this is valid prior to attending your appointment. Treatment needs to commence within one year of a claim. If you think this may have expired, please discuss this with us or ACC 48 hours prior to your appointment or you may be charged private fees if your treatment is declined by ACC.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Loose fitting casual clothing is best. Wear shorts if you have a hip, knee or foot injury.

How do I make an appointment?

You can get in touch by phone 09 626 6186 (New Windsor) / 09 836 4666 (Henderson) or use the form under the contact page. Alternatively use the quick and easy online booking page, which is the method we prefer.

Do I have to be referred by a doctor?

No, Physiotherapists can directly register your claim with ACC. We often liaise closely with your GP or specialists when appropriate to deliver the best care to you. Please Note: Only Physiotherapist can generate new ACC Claims. Please make sure you select Physiotherapist as your first appointment if you do not have an ACC number.

If the condition was caused by an injury or specific incident ACC will cover the cost of treatment if you claim is accepted. Although ACC provides no-fault personal injury cover for accidents, their payment to healthcare providers does not cover the full cost of treatment. ACC has made significant changes in relation to your access to Physiotherapy and Acupuncture services and now only covers part of treatment costs. Patients are required to make a co-payment of $20.00 per session. There are some treatments (such as strapping) which may require an extra charge, your physiotherapist will discuss this with you prior to treatment.

We treat patients with a wide range of conditions and diagnoses.  Please visit our Services for an extensive list of conditions and diagnoses we see patients for.

We will check with your health insurance provide to determine if physiotherapy are covered under your plan. We recommend that you confirm  your insurance coverage.

Our system sends you a friendly reminder via email, within the email you can cancel or reschedule the appointment, this is our preferred method. Alternatively you can call our clinic on 09 626 6186 or flick us an email at admin@physiofusion.co.nz.

Missed Appointments

The staff at Physio Fusion respect your time and we ask for the same courtesy. Missed appointments (no shows) affect our ability to provide timely attention to our patients. When a patient does not show up for their appointment, another patient loses an opportunity to be seen. If you are unable to make your appointment, we respectfully ask that you notify our clinic at least 48 hours in advance by email or phone. Failure to cancel an appointment that you do not attend will be considered a missed appointment or no show.

Protocol for No Shows:

If you fail to attend the appointment, you could be charged a $80 no show fee. In addition, a course of action will be determined based on the clinic team's review of your case and individual situation. You are directly responsible for payment of the no show fee on or before your next appointment. The no show fee cannot be billed to your insurance company or ACC.

Yes, please bring any X-Rays or scans along with their reports or other medical information relating to your condition.

No, we are dedicated to improving your quality of life and function by helping you in your recovery from multiple conditions.

Acupuncture is a great treatment after your injury to help with natural pain relief, it can help to reduce inflammation and improve your function. This helps us to manage your injury better at the start so you are then able to get the most out of your physio sessions.

Don’t worry, our acupuncturists are great and can offer a wide range of treatment options. The needles are hair-thin, they aren’t big like a blood test, and feel similar to me pushing on your trigger points. They are skilled in other things like cupping, moxibustion, acupressure and other traditional Chinese medicine techniques. So they don’t have to use needles, they can start with other techniques first and you can decide if you want to try needling later.

Our team is very experienced and professional and will explain what they are doing at each step. They will talk you through their consent for treatment and the treatment modality they suggest. The needles are placed and then left to work, sometimes they will use a heat lamp at the same time. We find a lot of patients fall asleep seeing the acupuncturists but none seem to with physio

Unfortunately, ACC won't pay for both treatments on the same day, but we actually find that spreading out your treatment works really well for pain relief and speeding up your recovery.
